Update 3: Head of School Address

Friday
13 March 2020

Dear Parents,

We continue to monitor closely the unfolding global outbreak of COVID-19. Our focus is on the health and safety of our school community at this challenging time. We take our responsibilities to you and your children very seriously and are working hard to ensure our school is appropriate and measured in our response to the rapidly unfolding situation.

As you may have seen, the latest (Thursday March 12th) advice from the BC Minister of Health is that anyone entering or re-entering Canada from overseas travel will be required to self-isolate for 14 days:
“Effective today, anyone who chooses to travel outside of Canada will be asked to stay away from work or school for 14 days upon their return. We know that this is a voluntary measure, but it is our expectation that people will follow this direction as part of their civic duty. “

As a responsible member of our community, Brookes Westshore will follow this recommendation and require all students who have travelled out of Canada over Spring Break to self-isolate on their return to Canada and prior to returning to school.

It is important we inform you that Brookes Westshore does not have the capacity to provide appropriate isolation space for the number of our students who are travelling out of Canada over Spring Break.
We are therefore asking all students who have travelled out of Canada over Spring Break to take responsibility for their own self-isolation. (Please note that teachers will be providing E-Learning for all students who are unable to be on campus.)

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. I know you will join me in wishing for a speedy and safe return to normal for all our communities around the world.

Yours sincerely,

Jerry Salvador
Head of School
